PAD has a women wing, which look after the affairs of deaf women. For the first time in Pakistan, PAD started women wing 1994. After some years new organizations began to establish in Sargodha and Bahawalpur etc. It has been working very effectively since then. We have more than 150 women members. It is decided that the name should be changed to “Pakistan Women Association of the Deaf”.
It would work as a sub-committee of Pakistan Association of the Deaf. PWAD is responsible to promote, empower, educate, support and to impart vocational training to deaf women. Main activities are Islamic education, guidance of ethical values, vocational training such as cooking classes, embroidery and marriage counseling for the Deaf. Ms. Shahida Ibrahim is working as the Chairperson of Pakistan Women Association of the Deaf.
