Pakistan Association of the Deaf to start
“Interpreter Services for the Deaf”
July 03, 2008: For the first time in Pakistan, Pakistan Association of the Deaf is starting “Interpreter Services for the Deaf”. Deaf people face problems of communication in our society. Hospitals, courts, law & order, education, therapy / counseling, interviews / meetings and social services are some of the areas where Deaf people need an Interpreter. The Deaf people regarding interpreter problem in court and police station brought some of the cases in our knowledge. Interpreter serves as a bridge among hearing and Deaf person. Mr. Kamran Tariq (G. Secretary – PAD) will give brief introduction about PAD and the need of starting interpreter service for the Deaf would be highlighted by Mr. Ifran Mumtaz (President – PAD). Ms. Fazila Shamim and Mr. Shahid Ali (Sign Language Interpreters) would also share their experiences.

M. Rizvi will honour us by their speeches. Ms. Fauzia Wahab – Member
National Assembly would grade the occasion as Special Guest of
Honour whereas Ms. Nadia Khan Gabool (Minister for Human Rights
Govt. of Sindh) would be the Chief Guest. A large number of prominent
and well-known personalities from all walks of life will also attend the seminar.
