Project:

Deaf people use sign language for communication. Most of the people in our society do not know sign language. This creates a communication barrier among hearing and deaf persons. As a result, deaf people become isolated in their environment.

Sign language interpreter is a person that serves as a bridge among hearing and deaf person. Sign language interpreters are bilingual i.e. fluent in two or more languages. Deaf people need the services of sign language interpreters to communicate effectively with hearing persons.

Services of sign language interpreters are needed in the following areas:
Judiciary, hospitals, law and order, employment, educational institutions etc.

To provide the facility of sign language interpreters to the deaf, there is an urgent need to establish a platform where sign language interpreters could be available for deaf persons at any time. Deaf persons will benefit from this service

Appeal:

We are currently running this project but at a limited level. The expansion of this project is very important. Pakistan Association of the Deaf is a not-for-profit organisation and therefore relies on external funding and donations to continue its valuable work.
