On October 21, 2007 Pakistan Association of the Deaf celebrated its 20th anniversary. Ms. Nasreen Jalil (City Naib Nazim) was the Chief Guest. Mr. Abdul Haseeb Khan (Chairman – Brookes Pharma), Mr. Zaigham M. Rizvi (Chief Patron – PAD), Mr. Abdul Majeed (ZHV Securities), Mr. Ahmed Ali (President – Bahawalpur Deaf Welfare Society) and Mr. Tayyab (G. Secretary – Deaf Welfare Society Sargodha) were among the honorable guests. Mr. Ismail (a deaf member of PAD) recited a surah from the Holy Quran. The responsibility of stage secretary was handed over to Mr. Kamran Tariq (General Secretary).
Program was started with a drama. Deaf members of PAD presented a drama portraying the establishment phase of PAD way back in 1987. After that Mr. Kamran gave an introduction about PAD and highlighted its activities and future projects. In his speech, Mr. Irfan mumtaz (President – PAD) said that deaf people do possess same range of talents as any other person therefore; they should be treated on equal basis. He invited Syed Amin Ahmed, Haider, Asif Amin Farooqui, Asif’s wife, Samina, Shahzad and Saleem to the stage. Appreciating their talents, he said that deaf people should follow the example of these talented deaf persons and to strive for a reasonable position in the society. Ms. Nasreen Jalil, Mr. Abdul Haseeb Khan and Mr. Zaigham M. Rizvi also honored the seminar with their speeches. Ms. Nasreen Jalil assured of her help to PAD for park and school.
